Zhytomir. Zeev Ben-Arye, Envoy of Israel in Ukraine, presented Zhytomir citizens, who had rescued Jews from extermination during the years of fascist occupation, with diplomas of the Righteous Gentiles of Peace.
Ben-Arye thanked the Righteous Gentiles on behalf of the Israeli state, and expressed admiration of their courage and humanity. As Igor Rafalsky, Deputy Head of the oblast state administration, said, Ukraine honors those, who resisted fascism during the war and saved Jews.

Khmelnitski. Ceremonies of presenting diplomas and medals of "The Righteous Gentiles of Peace" took place on December 12 in Khmelnitski and on December 13 in Ternopol. Not all of the righteous gentiles survived to see this moment. The ceremony was visited by their children and relatives. Zeev Ben-Arye, Envoy of Israel in Ukraine, stressed that Jewry will always owe the righteous gentiles a debt of gratitude that cannot be repaid, a debt to their generosity and courage.
The righteous gentiles, in their turn, thanked all the Jewish people for eternal memory, and expressed confidence that genocide would never repeat again, and no nation would ever more allege its superiority with the help of arms.
This visit was the first official visit of the representatives of the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine to the Ternopol oblast. Therefore, the Envoy of Israel in Ukraine Zeev Ben-Arye had an official meeting with V.Kolomiychuk, Head of the Ternopol oblast state administration. They discussed different questions of interethnic relations in Ternopol oblast and establishment of economic relations between Israel and the Ternopol oblast.

Dnepropetrovsk. The Jewish community center library celebrated its fifth anniversary on December 23. Shmuel Kaminetsky, Menakhem Lepkivker, Igor Kizhner and Victor Danovich congratulated the library's staff and guests on this ocassion. Many warm words were said in address of the library's collective and especially its director Maria Yakovlevna Kliots. The guests talked about the imperishable significance of libraries and books in every Jew's life, and the formation of national consciousness.
Dnepropetrovsk. The Dnepropetrovsk Institute for Social and Community Workers organized a seminar for instructors and administrators of the "Home Care" service and also a separate meeting for administrators on December 24-26. Instructors and administrators from all towns of the Dnepropetrovsk oblast attended the seminar and the meeting. The service administrators were awarded with diplomas of the "Graduate of the Home Care Service Course". The diplomas were signed by Menakhem Lepkivker, Manager of "Joint's" programs in Dnepropetrovsk oblast, and Viktor Danovich, Head of the Dnepropetrovsk Institute for Social and Community Workers.
