The Constituent Meeting of the Eurasia Jews Congress (EAJC) has ended in Moscow. Joseph Zisels - President of EAJC General Council and executive vice-president of Jewish Confederation in Ukraine - tells us about the results of the meeting and the targets that the Congress has set for the future.

The WJC and the European Jewish Congress asked the Ukrainian Jewish Confederation to help the Argentine community ... to hold Pesah. To be exact, to supply the product which is particularly essential for the holiday - the matzoth.

Unfortunately, we are all mortal. Therefore, it is not surprising that in their declining years when people are too weak to pursue pleasures (success, money, sex, alcohol, etc.) they often turn to religious texts in order to find the answer to the question about the sense of life (THEIR LIFE). When the answer is found there comes an outburst of emotions - people haven't wasted their lifetime, they have not suffered or hoped in vain.

During the first spring days the sanatorium Pushcha-Voditsa in the blessed Kyiv suburb with the same name was the venue for a conference of journalists who represented the national minorities of Ukraine. The Congress of national communities of Ukraine organized the conference.

Pursuant to the Decree of the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma the Council Presidium of the representatives of non-government organizations of national minorities of Ukraine has been renovated. Now it is headed by Ilya Levitas, the Jewish Council President. The Council's Presidium has been conferred powers of a consultative-advisory body and 10 more members have been admitted into it. Sergei Maksimov, the Co-President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine, is now representing the county's Jewish community in the Council. On the whole the Council is made up of the representatives of 30 national minorities of Ukraine.
