DECLARATION

The national communities of Ukraine express their deep indignation in connection with the pogrom of the Brodsky Kiev Choral Synagogue.

Timing of the action, in our opinion, is not accidental. The Jews of the entire world mark the sorrowful days of the Catastrophe, mourn the warriors of Israel who have lost their lives and, having done honour to the dead, celebrate the Day of Independence.

At the moment the pogrom-makers are officially called "tramps", "brawlers" and even "fans". But this contradicts to the reality. The peoples of our country who have survived pogroms, extermination, deportations know the aggression is never spontaneous. It is always done to order and directed against those considered non-natives, dissidents, migrants, - aliens, in a word.

Such actions are targeted not only at the Jews, but at other national communities of Ukraine as well: Roms, Russians, Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians in Crimea. In practically every case we do not see any resolute rebuff on the part of the executive and legislative branches of power, in particular, by those officials who are responsible to look to the problems of national minorities. At least, that was the case during the pre-election campaign.

There are only two ways to oppose anti-government extremism - immediate punishment of initiators and executors and joint distinct actions of government and public organizations against any manifestations of interethnic intolerance. Only joint struggle against evil and violence will allow us to create a civil society.
