TO RETURN IRRETRIEVABLE?

For many years public circles in the world have been sure the USA is the main strategic ally of Israel, its defender and guarantor of security. The latest events in the Near East put this under question. The second intifada lasts over a year and a half, innocent peaceful Israeli population - women, the old, children - die from acts of terror, but all efforts of the Israeli government to protect its citizens are condemned by the world public opinion and the USA.

For a good fourteen years I happen to be a participant of, at first, a national renaissance in the period of perestroika when not only Jews, but all other peoples of the great states USSR as well got an astonishing opportunity to choose, whereas at present I am a subject of the Ukraine's Jewish life that differs little from the life of thinned Jewish communities in Eastern Europe.

No, why not to argue? It is, though, rather doubtful that our inner Jewish arguments may bring about the truth, but the process by itself, you should agree, is rather interesting and far from unpleasant. That's why I have decided to interfere into the discussion between two authors I respect: Mr.Vitaly Nakhmanovich ("Lost Torah", JO #12/15) and Mr.Semyon Averbuch ("I need everybody. Everybody is dear to me", JO # 5/24).
