ISRAELI HITS IN THE MIA HOUSE OF CULTURE
MAKSIM SUKHANOV
Main page To print

The first festival of an Israeli song in Ukraine took place on April 10 in Kiev MIA {Ministry of Internal Affairs} House of Culture. The jury headed by a well-known composer Aleksandr Zlotnik included such renowned genre masters as a poet Aleksandr Vratarev, ballet-master Alla Rubina, producer Dmitry Mukharskty. Over 20 singers from different cities of the country took part in the festival. The level of participants was rather various - from really weak, "veneer" turns to bright and original windfalls. The repertoire was rather predictable and limited. Therefore, most popular among singers were the compositions by Dana International. That was, probably, due to her popularity in comparison to other Israeli performers. However, the festival proved its name, and the general impression from the event was much better than from other "combined" Jewish concerts. This was so greatly due to the compere - a well-known KVN player Yan Levinzon. All prizewinners received presents from one of the sponsors- the firm "Elite"- and airplane tickets "Kiev-Tel-Aviv-Kiev". The first place was fairly shared between a 13- year old Irina Rosenfeld from Kerch, for whom such victory was not the first one, and Tatyana Liberman from Ivano-Frankovsk.
