During the voting in Knesset the bill of the deputy Amnon Rubinshtein was defied. The draft concerned introducing a civil marriage in Israel providing an opportunity for marriages irrespective of one's faith. "Significant part of repatriates-non-Jews will keep suffering", - commented Rubinshtein on the results of voting.
The plenary sitting of Knesset discussed a bill on obligatory presence of an interpreter in court if a defendant (or accused) demands it. The bill was submitted by the chairman of "Democratic choice" party Roman Bronfman. While presenting the bill he started speaking Russian. This resulted in embarrassment. Then the bill's author said in Hebrew: "Now you understand how difficult it is to do without translation". All Russian-speaking deputies, as well as many of their colleagues supported the bill of Bonfman. However, they missed only one vote.
The ways of cooperation of Israel security services with repatriates, experienced in doing military and security services in Exodus countries, were discussed at the sitting of Knesset commission on alia and absorption. Representatives of TSAKHAL, police and "Shield and Sword" organization were present at the sitting. The Knesset deputy Gennady Riger (IBA) informed about a likely cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the Ministry of Absorption. The point is to create a professional ulpan for olim of a certain age, experienced and healthy to enter security services.
There is also an opportunity to work in police public relations' departments, - "emergency phone", organization of volunteers' etc. Riger underlined, that employment of repatriates - former servicemen, militia workers and investigators - is the part of common strategic task of professional alia integration, which is rather important due to the situation in the country.
An interministry commission headed by Natan Shcharansky has passed a decision to create a museum of heroism of Jews-warriors during the World War II. Its foundation ceremony will take place September 1 in Latrun. A special group of coordination the activity of Ministries of absorption, culture, construction and defense on gathering materials for a new museum and pavilion construction will be instituted. It is planned to create not only exhibit halls but also a computerized system with the information about Jews-warriors, archives and an exposition devoted to biggest World War II battles.
"The fact of its existence will by itself be a proof it is impossible to separate, as was the case earlier, heroism of TSAKHAL soldiers, who fought in wars by Israel, from that of Jews-warriors, who fought in the army of allies and made a significant contribution to elimination of fascism", - noted Shcharansky.
