Austria. A memorial to 65 thousand Austrian Jews died during the Holocaust was unveiled in the presence of President Thomas Klestil in central Synagogue of Vienna. Ariel Muzikant, the head of Vienna Jewish community, noted they had been waiting for this event for 12 years looking for and gathering names of those passed away. The monument unveiling is dated to 64th Anniversary of Crystal night, since when begins a countdown of mass slaughtering Jewish population. 14 black gravestones with engraved names of 64000 murdered Austrian Jews can be read as a book. Memorial complex includes a broken column symbolizing the part of community people that managed to survive.

November 9-10, 1938 27 Jews were murdered, 43 synagogues - destroyed and more than 4000 shops - plundered in Vienna.

India. A Jewish educational center was opened in North-Eastern India. The center was created by the "Amishav" organization from Jerusalem, which deals with searching "lost Jews".

So-called "bney Menashe" (sons of Manassia), numbering 5-6 thousand persons and residing mainly in North-Eastern Indian states Mizoram and Manipur, affirm they descend from a lost Israeli tribe. During the last 12 years nearly 700 of them performed alia.

Cuba. Director Steven Spielberg made a speech to representatives of the "Liberty island" Jewish community after the premiere of his last movie. There appeared to be many descendants of Jews - former prisoners of Auschwitz among them. Having reminded to Cuban Jews, who gathered in the Havana central synagogue, about the necessity to observe all customs and remember about the preservation of traditional values, the director and his wife Kate Capshow laid a stone in the basement of a memorial to Holocaust victims being constructed in the capital Jewish cemetery.

The Cuban community numbered 15 thousand persons before Fidel Castro came to power. Nowadays, there reside nearly 1,500 Jews.
