At the end of October 2002 a seminar was held in the Kiev Institute for social and community workers. It was dedicated to the Jewish children's homes in CIS.

The stories about life of the Uman Jewish community.

For already three years a Club of veterans of Great patriotic war and Soviet Army is active under the Rovno charitable fund "Khesed Osher". It is headed by a participant of the battle near Stalingrad colonel Lev Levin.

A chess club "Gambit' organized under the khesed "Mikol Anashama" is active in Mariupol since 1999. Its permanent leader is our volunteer Zinovy Belov. This keen on chess person has a huge desire to convey his experience and knowledge of a chess player to all those willing to join in this interesting and wise game!

Lvov hosted a festival of Jewish amateur theatres with the participation of over 15 theatrical collectives from CIS countries. The festival was organized by "Joint" in cooperation with the Jewish agency and other Jewish organizations.

October 21 - 23 Dnepropetrovsk hosted the II International scientific conference "Problems of Holocaust in Ukraine". 240 persons representing different academic organizations of Ukraine, Great Britain, Israel, USA, Holland, Germany, Poland, Russia, Belarus and other countries took part in it.

The President appointed Alexander Slipchenko a new ambassador of Ukraine to Israel. Alexander Slipchenko has been a Ukrainian ambassador to Sweden since 1999. Before that he worked in Denmark and Norway.

We would like Jewish organizations to take part in creating a permanent forum under a working name "For peace and accord in Sacred Land".

A solemn rewarding in the framework of the nomination "Jewish community leaders of the year" has recently taken place in Kiev. Khariton Abramovich was recognized the best in the nomination " The Jewish journalist of the year". He is a head of the city Jewish community and of the Sholom-Aleikhem Ukrainian community of Jewish culture in Bila Tserkva. Khariton Berman is a person of an interesting destiny.
